Liverpool born, East London based artist KAE SERA has just dropped her first track of the year “Close Call.” Inspired by the twists and turns in classic romantic movies, the song sonically mirrors these scandalous scenes, as the artist walks the line between infidelity and fidelity. Through raw and honest lyrics Kae Sera admits that as humans, we’re not perfect.
Singing, “I know what you’re thinking, you’re here to rob hearts blind, but you’re just one of many who try to change my mind,” the artist confides, “This is quite an exposing track, something nobody ever admits or discusses. Desire isn’t something people speak openly about, particularly when they are in a relationship. I purposely left the ending open and unpredictable, just like life itself.”
Following her 2021 debuts “Dames Jean” and “The Moon,” the Liverpudlian stays true to her signature sound of ethereal electro pop. Entering with a James Bond-esque intro, a subtle and somber piano melody sets the tone. Her muted falsetto vocal floats atop a seemingly eerie backdrop, as she tries to persuade herself, “I’m not cheating, I’m not lying.”
