The dynamic pop-soaked sound of solo artist Harry and the Chicks is sure to add an injection of vibrancy to your day. Born and raised in East London, Harry’s world was shaped by the city and sites around her, with her music displaying a clear connection to her background. Formerly known as just 'HARRY,' the artist realised she had significant competition with the likes of Harry Potter, Prince Harry and Harry Styles, so in 2019, renamed her musical project as ‘Harry and the Chicks’, with ‘the chicks’ representing any collaborators or fans she encounters along the way.

Visually captivating, the London based artist is a creative through and through, with her clothing brand illustrating her colourful personality and whimsical style. While this may be the first thing you see, her lyrics offer a deliberate and thoughtful contrast. Having started penning songs at just 12 years old, Harry has a voice and intends to use it, singing of uncomfortable experiences and covering topics of harassment and mental health.

Created in collaboration with producer Imad Salhi, the new single ”Snakes in the Streets” explores the naivety of trusting people too soon. Harry revealed, “I can be so open with people that I leave myself vulnerable to others” with the singer admitting, “I’ve had this trait since I was a teenager”. While the lyrics explore a more downbeat narrative, her angelic vocals dance atop of synth-streaked melodies and energetic beats, drawing comparisons to artists like Griff and Kim Petras.

Doused with ominous sentiment, the music video for the track shines a light on the exhausting reality of being a woman living in a big city. Having experienced a record number of catcalls on a short 10 minute walk to meet a friend, Harry felt compelled to visually highlight the simple, yet daunting task of getting from A to B, expressing, “I have a voice to speak about my lived experiences - it’s prevalent across the world and needs to change.”
