The punchy beats and snappy production of Ryan Meeking’s music is just a slice of what this artist has to offer. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, this indie pop artist has been blessed with the sunshine lifestyle, with his summer-soaked roots shining through in his energetic sound. Recently packing up and relocating to the UK, he brings with him a splash of that warm and luminous energy, blessing us with his charismatic vocals and infectious melodies.

Now based in London, the singer/songwriter and producer has just dropped his zesty new single “Better!.” Written during the pandemic and separated from family and friends, the uplifting new track is an expression of love and longing and the desire to not waste any time, with the singer explaining, “Because the pandemic made for such great stimuli, I realised every songwriter was probably going to write about it in some way. So I promised myself I wouldn’t directly address it. Instead, I used it as a way to inform my perspective - especially on things I’d always taken for granted.”

Produced and mixed alongside Sam Swain and mastered by Randy Merrill, the track glistens with upbeat percussion and groove-laden bass guitar. Displaying Meeking’s eloquent flair for songwriting, “Better!” playfully narrates the undeniable connection between two friends, singing, “And I’ve been going crazy / Knowing we could mess it up / But I’ve been thinking lately / No way to escape it / Maybe we should start it up”. Hesitant as to whether they shift their friendship to something more, the track dances with risk and reward, finally coming to the conclusion that they would in fact, be better together.
