“Mac was such a beautiful and respected artist, and his loss was felt around the world. His legacy lives on through his incredible music. I’m so proud to cover his record ‘Dunno’ and support the Mac Miller Fund in his honor.” —Noah Cyrus
Nearly two years ago to this date the world lost Mac Miller from an accidental drug overdose just forty-six days after the release of his Grammy-nominated and critically acclaimed album titled Swimming in Sept. 2018. To honor his legacy, Noah Cyrus released a cover of his song “Dunno” in support of The Mac Miller Fund. This Pittsburgh based organization provides opportunities for kids through artistic outlets, contributions, and opportunities to help them recognize their full potential with the arts. Cyrus took to her Instagram to promote her cover in hopes to raise awareness of The Mac Miller Fund stating:
“In honor of Mac I’m making a donation to The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Mac Miller Fund to help raise awareness for youth programming in underserved communities specifically as it relates to arts and community building. Mac, you were such a kind soul and you touched and inspired people across the world. me being one of them. Your legacy lives on and we all know you and all the other angels that were taken too soon are watching over us. what started off as a warm-up in the studio one day turned into something beautiful. I hope u like this and r ok with it. this song has been with me and gotten me thru a lot of my life these past few years. link in story if you’d also like to make a donation to Mac’s fund.”
On her version of the track, it features production by Triangle Park and maintains it’s organically smooth and laid-back vocals throughout the tone of the song. Throughout the song’s lyrics, it tells a reminiscent story of past moments and memories with a significant other that is no longer shared but still missed. For more information on how you can support The Mac Miller Fund visit the website and stream “Dunno” on all streaming platforms.
