Over the weekend, newcomer Afonso shared his new single "Bloom," which is definitely a gem.

The brooding, soulful new cut is the latest from the jazz-influenced artist who is originally from Portugal but has since been based in London. His music, as evidenced by the new track, is dripping with emotion while recalling a sense of nostalgia in a vein similar to the likes of Lianne La Havas, Moses Sumney and Nick Hakim.

According to Afonso, "Bloom" is a reflection of the first stages of a relationship, a metaphor of blooming in nature showing the increase in passion as love between two people intensifies.
