Fans might not have been expecting new music from Noname, but she just delivered.

The rapper just shared a track called "Song 33," which follows last year's "Song 32." It's probably also not a coincidence it follows J. Cole's new song "Snow On Tha Bluff," which he released Tuesday. That track contained a number of veiled references to Noname calling out Black male peers for their insufficient response in light of recent battles around race and police brutality.

After many fans speculated J. Cole was targeting Noname, he tried to clear up the controversy but perhaps added more fuel to the fire. "I stand behind every word of the song that dropped last night," he said on Twitter, adding: "Follow Noname. I love and honor her as a leader in these times. She has done and is doing the reading and the listening and the learning on the path that she truly believes is the correct one for our people. Meanwhile a n-gga like me just be rapping. I haven’t done a lot of reading and I don’t feel well equipped as a leader in these times."

Although Noname's new song is short, it's blistering and poignant. "Wow look at him go / He really ’bout to write about me while the world is in smokes," she declares. "When his people in trees, when George was begging for his mother saying he couldn’t breathe / you thought to write about me?"
