J. Cole has shared a new song called "Snow On Tha Bluff," which he released late Tuesday night on streaming platforms.

While he has appeared on others' music this year, this is his first release of his own in 2020. It comes as he's been hinting at a new album, the presumed followup to 2018's KOD, but he has yet to confirm anything officially.

The raw, riveting new cut arrives during a complicated time. Cole's Dreamville Festival, which was slated for a second year back in April, had postponed until August because of the ongoing health crisis, but as the pandemic continues, the rapper scrapped it altogether in hopes of returning next year. The first year was also delayed several months.

The new music also arrives in the middle of increasing unrest in America, with protests in support of Black lives ongoing in cities across the country and globally following a number of killings at the hands of police.
