Up-and-coming crooner Conor Matthews has gotten an early start on the Valentine's Day vibes, with his new Balloons EP, which dropped on Friday.

Long a Variance favorite, Matthews really showcases his vocal and songwriting prowess on the newly released four-song project, which is anchored by the title track, a steamy, pop R&B gem with the singer's massive, velvet vocals on full display as he sings about getting drunk, high and naked with his girl in the back seat of a car.

Perfectly complimenting that track is "Older," which is an instant pop throwback cut, reminiscent of old Backstreet Boys and '90s R&B, with Matthews' effortless falsetto shining center stage on the song, which he actually wrote after a hard breakup.

"This project is a reflection on a season of life for me," says Matthews of the new EP. "One that felt epic with love and heartbreak, dreams that felt unattainable, and dreams coming true. I wanted to create something that felt huge sonically—like it could fill up a stadium—because that’s how epic this season of change felt to me."

Matthews was recently signed to the Altadena imprint through a partnership with Warner Records. As we previously mentioned, Matthews was born outside Chicago and moved to Nashville, signing a songwriting deal with Warner Chappell and Keith Urban.
