Rising artist Brett Castro is kicking off the new year with new music, starting with his new single "How Did You Know?," which follows his 2019 im sorry EP.

The hypnotic cut is premiering today on Variance and it marks his first release on London-based label frtyfve. He is actually planning to release plenty more material throughout the coming year.

For the new track, Castro worked with Dermot Kennedy collaborator Jonah Shai, who co-wrote and produced the song, which was inspired by the end of a relationship. He called Shai to confide in him and that "venting session" evolved into a writing session. 

“I remember recording the vocal around 5 a.m.,” recalls Castro. “My whole body, my voice, my heart was so exhausted. But the feeling was too certain and too strong to stop. I went to bed to the sunrise, and it made me feel a little better.”
