Up-and-coming singer Abraham Alexander has shared a stunning new song called "Lovers Game," which arrived Wednesday.

With the song's release today, he also confirmed his upcoming self-titled debut EP, which will be out June 28 via Mahogany. The lush, newly released track is the first from the 4-track offering.

"It's about how, in this day and age, we're so afraid of being truly in the moment and appreciating someone for who they are right now," says Alexander of the new song. "We end up playing all these games to see if someone's worth our love, instead of just letting ourselves fall head first."

Alexander was born in Greece to parents of Nigerian descent. When he was 11, his family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, determined to escape the racial tensions they had experienced in Athens. He began playing guitar when he was 8, but he truly committed to the instrument when he was 22 after seeing a session with Gary Clark Jr.

"I'd torn my ACL playing college soccer and, for a long time, I was laid up at home, just so depressed," says Alexander, recalling drawing inspiration from Clark. "Watching Gary do his thing really affected me—you don't see many people who look like me holding a guitar and it made me want to try as well."
