On day 24 of Donald Trump's government shutdown, in the middle of January, you probably didn't expect new music from The Killers, whose last album was released in 2017.

But Brandon Flowers and Co. have just dropped a stirring new track titled "Land of the Free." Arriving Monday with an accompanying video directed by none other than Spike Lee, the song pointedly slams calls for a giant wall alongside the United States' Southern border. Flowers also takes aim at America's mass incarceration problem.

"Down at the border
They’re gonna put up a wall
With concrete and rebar steel beams
High enough to keep all those filthy hands off of our hopes and our dreams"

"Land of the Free" comes as Trump has proudly forced a partial government shutdown, now the longest in American history, insisting he will only sign a budget deal which includes funding for his controversial wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

In Lee's video, for which he was given full creative rein, he traveled to the Southern border to capture gun-wrenching images of migrant families trying to enter the United States, including instances of border patrol agents tear-gassing asylum-seekers.
