We all know that YouTube is the biggest online video platform in the world and has been the go-to place to search for videos since its launch in 2005. But 17 years on and you start to think that perhaps we need to change things up a bit. Well, British tech startup Viktrs are here to do just that. Spicing up our videos with more engagement and an overall more abundant viewing experience, Viktrs are not only allowing creators to further monetize their videos, but also driving more buzz and attention.

Their latest release with Americana pop/rock singer Roisin O’Hagan for her new video “Sunset Valley” is the perfect example of what they have to offer. Introducing four tabs under the categories, Products, People, Gigs & Music and Inspirations, audiences can explore every inch and second of the video, discovering information that before would have been unattainable.

CEO Mark Bamford explains, “First, audiences are able to seamlessly discover and shop any products, services or locations that the artist has tagged in the video, from sneakers to hotels. Through our brand connections and affiliate network, artists can generate a new revenue stream. Audiences can also discover and connect to the people involved in the creation of the video, with a direct link to their preferred social media platform, showcasing the wider community that were integral in bringing the music video vision to life and giving ‘credit where credit is due’. Artists are also able to share the inspirations behind the video and the song in the Inspirations tab, drawing attention to a charity or cause that they want to support with their fans, providing genuine and lasting impact away from the video itself. We also provide links to the artist’s streaming profiles and tickets for upcoming shows, so that audiences can easily purchase and continue to support their favourite artists.”

In the video for “Sunset Valley” we get a personal insight into the life of British singer/songwriter O’Hagan, learning what makeup products she uses, the exact brand of her musical instruments and clothes and most interestingly, exclusive quotes from the artist explaining the concept behind both the song and the video.

Viktrs have truly created something that is totally reimagining music videos for the better and we’re so excited to see what else they have to offer us soon!
