Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, tied with Justin Timberlake for most VMA nominations, had a great night on Sunday.

The Seattle duo won Best Hip-Hop Video for "Can't Hold Us," featuring Ray Dalton, and Best Video with a Social Message for “Same Love,” featuring Mary Lambert, the latter of which they also performed live.

In the midst of a noisy night of ridiculous behavior, somehow it was this performance that brought the audience back to reality with warmly lit staging under a banner of American flags.

Already a powerful and sincere moment, Academy-winner Jennifer Hudson eventually joined the trio on stage and took the hand of Lambert, who happens to be openly gay. It was easily one of the classiest moments of the entire night.
