After a year of a Covid-induced hiatus, Chris Emerson (aka What So Not) returned Wednesday with new single "The Change," a collaboration with fellow Australian act DMA'S.
The new track, which arrived with an accompanying video Jordan Chappell, kicked off what Emerson calls a "new era" in his career. The song was recorded last year in Sydney and is out now via Sweat It out/Counter Records.
“I met Johnny [Took] at their studio — a small room next to a noisy inner-city road, above a pub, with no sound insulation," recalls Emerson. "We (somehow) never met but clicked instantly, discussing life on the road, COVID and found commonality on our all-time favourite artists. The first thing we made is pretty much the track you hear ... I feel like this record is one the two of us have always wanted to make but never had the right pieces of the puzzle, until now.”
