On Friday, Everything Everything dropped their brand new song "In Birdsong."
The explosively mind-bending new track arrived with a psychedelic accompanying video, which only further helps transport listeners to a totally different sonic universe. The result is a massive, Radiohead-level experience, led by singer Jonathan Higgs' incredible falsetto.
The song is inspired by the theory that humans once had two separate minds, which were eventually melded into the two-sided brain, resulting in mankind's consciousness.
"I wanted to somehow insert this evolutionary psychology into a song because I felt so in awe of the idea," says Higgs. "I found a deep sense of wonder at its core, about life and the world. It applies to songs about love, sex, life, death and humanity—the things I’ve always written about."
It's worth noting, this is the band's first release since their 2018 A Deeper Sea EP. It's also their first music released on their own Infinity Industries imprint, in partnership with AWAL. They hadn't intended to put it out now, but the ongoing health crisis changed their plans.
