Baltimore outfit Leisure Sport is releasing a new song called "Tennessee" on Friday.
But first, they're offering up an early listen to Variance. The track is a riveting listen, but it tackles some serious subjects, with singer/guitarist Dana DiGennaro's vocals navigating a very stirring, emotional narrative.
"'Tennessee' is about trying to mask depression with exhilarating experiences and putting pressure on those situations to lift you out of a dark place," says DiGennaro. "The chorus of the song is the realization that this type of self medication never works."
Drummer Michael Habif adds: "When we started Leisure Sport it was a struggle finding our sound and we almost stopped playing together. 'Tennessee' was the first song where we felt like we found our voice and it saved the band."
Alongside DiGennaro and Habif, Leisure Sport is made up of vocalist and guitarist Kyle Balkin and bassist Cameron Thomas.
