Nashville-based singer Jason Walker is sharing a new song today. His riveting new track "Enemies" is premiering today on Variance.

The pulsating new cut is about realizing the person you're closest to actually your enemy, a song which draws on multiple personal experiences of betrayal. It also marks a noted change for Walker, whose previous material hasn't been as heavy, something he acknowledges.

"'Enemies' is a bit of a heavier production than I tend to lean towards, but I needed the feeling of this song to match the lyric," he says. "I wrote this song about a few different situations in my life where people I was close to turned their backs on me. I remember looking in the mirror and thinking, 'This can't be real.'"

Walker, who is originally from Illinois, moved to Nashville when he was 19. "Enemies" follows his 2017 Kygo collaboration "Sunrise," in addition to working with the likes of Steve Aoki, Sick Individuals and others.
