Newcomer Gillian Heidi will be releasing her new single "desperate" on Friday, but she's giving an early listen, premiering the captivating track today on Variance.

It's a breathtaking offering from the 16-year-old singer, who delivers another glimpse of her upcoming debut album 3AM, which is expected in the coming months. And while she may be young, her skillset is undeniable on the new song, which is brimming with promise, showcasing raw emotion with massive vocals.

“I think that 'desperate' really sets the tone of the album," she says. "'desperate' was one of the first songs I wrote for the album and it’s also one of my favorites. It’s angsty and authentic. ‘desperate’ tells the story of having feelings for someone else while in a relationship, describing both the thrill and guilt that comes with it.”

The new track follows Boston-based artist's other recent singles "static" and "high," and it comes as she has signed with Hard 8 Working Group, the management company which has been or is currently behind such Variance favorites as Billie Eilish, Gavin Haley, Tate McRae, Gavin Haley, seeyousoon, Phil Good and more.
