Actor Stephen Dorff has joined the cast of HBO's upcoming third installment of True Detective.
The premium cable network confirmed Wednesday Dorff's co-lead status, as he'll be playing Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator whose life is impacted by a perplexing crime.
The Blade actor joins previously announced stars Mahershala Ali and Carmen Ejogo for the long-discussed third season of True Detective, which was finally green-lit last August. It is expected to span several decades over the course of the season.
As in past seasons, creator Nic Pizzolatto will serve as showrunner and direct the new episodes; however, this season he'll be joined by Jeremy Saulnier. Both Pizzolatto and Saulnier as well as Scott Stephens are executive producing the new installment alongside and season 1 stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson and Cary Joji Fukunaga, the show's original director.
Ali will star as Wayne Hays, a state police detective in Northwest Arkansas. Ejogo co-stars as Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two children who went missing in 1980.
As of this writing, a premiere date has not been set.
