Phoenix appears to be encouraging fans to stand by with a uniform social media update.
The French four-piece on Wednesday changed all of their social media profile pictures and cover photos to the television test pattern, typically implying a channel or transmitter is active but is not yet broadcasting anything. Their website has also been updated but with a different image.
The cryptic change comes as the band has not been active on their social platforms since last December when they were promoting their song "Alone on Christmas Day," which appeared in Bill Murray's Netflix Christmas special.
Guitarist Laurent Brancowitz told Variance in October 2013 the band was "in a different place now" and hopefully wouldn't need a whole four years to work on their next album. Next April, however, marks four years since the release of Phoenix's last album Bankrupt!.
While a rep for Phoenix offered no comment, it seems new music may be on the horizon and fans should definitely stand by.
