John Legend hilariously quoted Taylor Swift on Tuesday when he was surprisingly roped into the debacle surrounding Melania Trump and claims she plagiarized First Lady Michelle Obama.

Moments after Donald Trump's wife spoke Monday night at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, it was revealed that nearly two paragraphs of her speech closely matched that of Michelle Obama's 2008 speech at the Democratic National Convention, where she was speaking about her relationship with then-Senator Barack Obama.

While critics have pointed to the fallout as evidence of the Trump campaign's amateur organization, Republican Chief Strategist Sean Spicer legitimately defended the alleged plagiarism, claiming Melania's speech might resemble lyrics from John Legend, Kid Rock or Public Enemy—or even phrases from My Little Pony.

When Twitter users began mocking Spicer's absurd spin, Legend immediately took to Twitter, saying, "I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative," a clear and comical nod to Swift's response to Kim Kardashian's accusations earlier this week that the singer approved of Kanye West's "Famous."

And thus, all of the week's weirdest news headlines have finally come full circle.

The Republican National Convention continues tonight, with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Dr. Ben Carson among the night's entertainment.
