Just weeks after releasing their first full-length album in four years, Cut Copy talked with Variance before their performance at Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend to discuss the record, their current tour and what comes next. 

While the album, Haiku from Zero, is receiving mostly positive feedback from the press, the band said it's great to see it's being well-received by critics but emphasized that's definitely not what motivated them. 

Frontman Dan Whitford says the long wait between records was mostly because they were "taking our time to get things right." He explained: "We probably could have put this out a little bit sooner, but it may not have been the way we wanted it to sound."

Cut Copy is currently on a North American tour, with more dates planned in addition to plans for touring Australia.
