Taylor Regulski for Austin City Limits Music Festival

Austin City Limits Music Festival revealed its 2024 lineup on Tuesday, and it's a somewhat curious one.

Not surprisingly, Dua Lipa and Tyler, The Creator are among the headliners this year alongside Chris Stapleton, blink-182, Sturgill Simpson and Pretty Lights.

While the Austin-based fest, being held Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13 at Zilker Park, has traditionally booked a legacy act, there's no such name at the top of the bill this year, as in past years with the likes of George Strait, Paul McCartney or The Cure. In 2021, the fest actually booked both Strait and Stevie Nicks, the latter of whom ultimately had to cancel due to health concerns, but this year is noticeably light on marquee performers, favoring surprise throwbacks like Norah Jones, Something Corporate and Foster the People, or newer, fresher faves like Reneé Rapp, Benson Boone, Dom Dolla, Chappell Roan and Medium Build.

Perhaps it's a sign of the challenges securing top-tier headliners in the post-Covid entertainment world and also a bit of changing times as festivals like Coachella, ACL and its sister fest Lollapalooza chase what's popular on streaming platforms in an effort to lure younger audiences onto the festival grounds.
