J. Cole is releasing a new album soon. This Friday, actually.

He confirmed the news Monday night on Twitter, simply tweeting, "New album. KOD 4/20." It wasn't immediately clear if "KOD" is the full title or if it's an acronym for a longer title.

The news comes as Cole held a surprise listening session tonight in New York, giving fans only two hours notice today to be at the Gramercy Theatre, a 500-capacity venue.

As we previously mentioned, surprises are hardly anything new for J. Cole, as his last album, 2016's 4 Your Eyez Only, was also released with only a week's notice.

Over the weekend, the ESPN revealed a NBA Playoffs commercial featuring a new verse from Cole, leading to speculation about additional new material.

Reps for J. Cole were not immediately available for comment.
