While Pusha T has been teasing his new album King Push for months, it appears the rapper has changed his plans and will instead release a totally separate record, Darkest Before Dawn, ahead of that project.

Dawn will arrive on Dec. 19, the MC revealed to Noisey in a new interview on Monday. It will feature production from the likes of Kanye West, Puff Daddy, Timbaland, Baauer and Q-Tip.

As for the need to split the albums, Pusha said he "didn’t want to break up that body of work." He explained that the contributing producers were creating material "a little out of their wheelhouse ... That’s the music I love, and that’s the music that my fans love from me. Instead of having those moments throughout King Push, let’s just separate the game."

The news follows previous reports the rapper was planning a December release, although he had not yet confirmed those claims.

King Push is now expected to arrive in the spring.
