Just before the weekend arrives, Welsh haze-pop trio XY&O is giving fans an early listen of their new single "Shades Of You," which is premiering today on Variance.
The shimmering new cut, which is officially out on Friday via Electric MVM, effortlessly finds singer Skip Curtis' hypnotic vocals floating over warm, glitchy beats. It's a perfect listen for sunny spring days and hot, hot nights.
"'Shades of You' is a song about infatuation," the band tells Variance of the new single. "It's about the feeling you have when you can't get someone off your mind, when everything and everyone you see reminds you of them. Also, the racking sense of self-doubt; the internal interrogation faced when you're not sure if you can believe that someone could feel the same way about you, that you feel about them.
They add: "Love, lust and everything in between sometimes comes with a paranoia; emotions so strong that you doubt they can't be real. It can make you question what's real and what's not."
