X Ambassadors decided not to lip-sync for the new video for their latest single "Ahead of Myself," which arrived Thursday.

The clip, directed by Jake Kovnat, was filmed on the streets of Rochester, New York. It features live vocals from frontman Sam Harris.

"We wanted to take something that everyone takes for granted in music videos and turn that on its head," said Harris in a statement to Variance. "Instead of lip-synching along to the words, the vocals would be recorded live, in the moment. We hoped to create something vulnerable and imperfect with this video, because that’s what the song is all about – embracing your fears and still diving in head-first."

The video comes as the band is getting ready to host their inaugural Cayuga Sound Festival on Sept. 23 in their hometown of Ithaca, New York. The Roots, K.Flay, The Knocks and more are scheduled to perform.
