André Benjamin (aka André 3000) has taken on a new acting role, having landed a final main role on ABC's upcoming second season of American Crime.

Benjamin joins the likes of Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Lili Taylor and others who are returning for the anthology series' second round, which will also include the additions of Angelique Rivera, Connor Jessup and Joey Pollari.

The American Crime role will also be a reunion for Benjamin, who will once again be working with director John Ridley, who directed the musician-actor in the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is by My Side and is the showrunner for the ABC show.

"I couldn’t be more excited than to work again with André," Ridley said in a statement released Friday. "He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All Is by my Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime. Folks at ABC were absolutely moved by André’s performance in the film, and by the overall language of cinema we used in telling the story. It’s fair to say American Crime might not exist were it not for our previous collaboration."

The second season is expected to premiere early next year. It will be set in the Midwest with a central story line focused on gender issues and sexual orientation.
