Toronto music-maker Kayobe is getting a head start on the weekend with the release of his new single "Knock."

Featuring rapper and fellow Toronto-based artist Rashid St. James, the hypnotic three-minute cut is premiering Thursday on Variance. It's the first preview of the duo's upcoming collaborative EP Nevermore, which is said to draw inspiration from the likes of Kaytranada, GoldLink and Kid Cudi.

"We first started work on another track (which will be included on Nevermore), but 'Knock' didn’t come until a little later," says Kayobe, recalling how the two were introduced to each other by a friend. "After producing a few tracks for Rashid's project, I showed him a few Kayobe beats I had – 'Knock' really ignited something within him. Rashid immediately started writing verses on it, and we wrote the chorus together. It was a real organic process."

While the four-song EP is still forthcoming, "Knock" can be heard below.
