Australian alt-rockers The Rubens have shared a new single called "Never Ever," a collaboration with up-and-coming songstress Sarah Aarons.

The scurrying yet tender track is the first preview of the five-piece's upcoming third album LO RA RU, which will arrive on June 29. The record was produced by Wilder Zoby and Torbitt Schwartz, who make up two-thirds of the instrumentalist-producer team behind Run the Jewels.

“The song became about these two lovers caught in the moment as their relationship drops away," says Rubens singer-songwriter Elliott Margin of the new track. "There’s to-ing and fro-ing as they pass blame and second guess their actions before they realize that what they had is already over.”

As for Aarons, she has previously notched a number of high-profile songwriting credits, including selections for the likes of Demi Lovato and most recently Zedd and Alessia Cara's massive hit "Stay."

While the album was produced by Zoby and Schwartz, this first single was produced by The Rubens' past collaborator Eric J, who won a Grammy last year for his work on Flume's album Skin.
