Danish singer Alex Vargas has released his first music of 2018.

His new song "Slowly" arrived Friday with an accompanying live performance video. Surprisingly, the track was actually written only a few weeks ago, as Vargas was invited on Danish radio show Sangskriver/Songwriter, responding to a request from a young fan whose heart was broken by someone he thought was the love of his life.

According to Vargas, he was so touched by the young man's experience that he wrote the track within a few hours, explaining "the song had practically written itself." Following the show, he went straight to his studio to record "Slowly," which is officially out today.

Vargas, who was one of Variance's 2017 FutureSounds selections, released his album Cohere last March. His single "Higher" was among Variance's 100 Best Songs of 2016.

"Slowly" arrives as he's gearing up to release more new music. Hear it below and stay tuned.
