We reported last month The xx was aiming to release new music "before the holidays." And the trio on Thursday shared a new single titled "On Hold."

It's the first preview of their upcoming album I See You, which will be out on Jan. 13, the band confirmed today. It was recorded between March 2014 and August 2016 in New York; Los Angeles; London; and Reykjavik, Iceland.

"We know these are uncertain times and we hope the joy and love we found making the record will get out into the world, in however small a way,” the band said in a statement about the record, which will be their first since 2012’s Coexist.

As we previously mentioned, The xx is scheduled to perform later today on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show.
