Thomas Blige, the father of Mary J. Blige, was hospitalized on Thursday after a domestic dispute in which his girlfriend stabbed him multiple times.

According to police in Battle Creek, Mich., Blige was still in critical condition Thursday afternoon following the incident, which occurred earlier in the morning. He was taken to a local hospital with three stab wounds, including one in the neck.

Police say Blige saw the woman, who has since been arrested, deflating the tires on his SUV. He went out to confront her and an argument ensued. Detective Sgt. Jim Martens said Thursday that this is the seventh domestic complaint between Blige, 63, and his 50-year-old girlfriend.
