The unstoppable producer duo The Chainsmokers have revealed a new remix in the form of The Colourist's "Fix This."
The Colourist has had a pretty incredible 2013. Following a breakout performance at Coachella, the Orange County quartet has crisscrossed the country touring with Metric, Fitz and the Tantrums, Atlas Genius and The Naked and Famous. Over the summer they released the popular Lido EP, with "Fix This" being one of four amazing tracks.
For their part, Variance favorite The Chainsmokers have been slaying remixes this year, boasting renditions of BANKS' "Change," Icona Pop's "Girlfriend" and Mikky Ekko's "Kids." Just before Thanksgiving, the New York pair took it up a notch and unleashed a hilarious original track titled "Selfie," which meshed social media satire with danceable beats.
"The Colourist have really unique, playful vocal melodies, which is what attracted to us to them the most," the duo said regarding the "Fix This" remix. "It was great to create a composition for this track that ping pong'd between their vocals and our production as we add and subtract instruments to increase the energy and emotion into a joyous wave of synths for the drop that keeps that has our signature style."
"Joyous wave of synths" is right. The Chainsmokers continue proving their beastly talent, and this new remix is perfect.
