The votes are in and we now know the 2014 Song of Summer, thanks to you.
Back in June, we began asking readers for their feedback in our annual poll. Voting remained open through the month of July, with participants allowed to either vote for existing nominees or nominate a candidate of their own.
Ultimately, Sam Smith's powerful ballad "Stay with Me" slightly edged out Chromeo's "Jealous (I Ain't With It)," with 19% and 18% of the vote, respectively.
Among the top five are rising songstress BANKS' stunning single "Drowning" at No. 3 (12%), followed by Ingrid Michaelson's pop gem "Girls Chase Boys" at No. 4 (10%) and Bleachers' brilliant summer anthem "Rollercoaster" coming in at No. 5 (8%).
Interestingly, two of our past three Songs of Summer winners went on to win Record of the Year at the GRAMMYs. So props to you, the readers, for having good ears! And perhaps it's a positive sign for Smith.
