Having spent the past few months on the road, James Vincent McMorrow is releasing some of his pent up energy in the form of new music.

The Irish singer-songwriter on Tuesday shared a fresh new cut titled "When I Leave," which he's made available as a free download.

The new song arrives eight months after the release of McMorrow's latest album, Post Tropical, which he says "definitely lit a fire," inspiring him to work on new material over the past few months.

"I've been recording when I can over the summer, on the floors of festival dressing rooms, in hotels," McMorrow said of the new material. "I've been waiting for everyone to fall asleep so I can track vocals in the back lounge of the bus ... There's no plan for any of it, I have an album in the world and it is rightfully taking up a lot of my energy, but I've plenty energy to go around."
