It's another one of those relatively "slow weeks" in album releases—by industry standards (unless you're a Kenny Chesney fan). But take a closer look and there's plenty of incredible new music out as of Tuesday.

First up is the much-anticipated return of Alt-J, with their incredible sophomore album, This Is All Yours. The bar was set high after 2012's Mercury Prize-winning An Awesome Wave, but they've certainly delivered a truly excellent followup. And it certainly doesn't hurt to have a co-sign from Miley Cyrus.

Mike Hadreas (aka Perfume Genius) is also back with his latest, Too Bright, which is actually just bright enough. Once again, the set is very personal, explicit and influenced by some of the brutally honest struggles the Seattle musician has faced as a gay man.

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy this week is launching his debut album as Tweedy. If you've been waiting patiently for a new Wilco album, Sukierae unfortunately isn't it. But this alt-country, double-disc set is a powerful, must-hear chapter of the singer's life, which has had its ups and downs as of late.

Also releasing a fresh, new LP is singer-songwriter Jon Bellion. His latest offering, The Definition, further proves why he's one of the most-underrated artists currently making not just music but art (see his stunning "Luxury" video below as evidence). If you only know him as the guy who wrote Eminem's "Monster," take a listen and let the music speak for itself.

On the rock side, there's Black Moon Spell, the latest full-length from Vermont's Kyle Thomas (aka King Tuff). Three official records in, this latest project is still a perfect fusion of garage rock and indie-pop, but be forewarned: it's a bit heavier than some of his past work. Nonetheless, it's still a great listen and it feels like the natural next step for Thomas.

Of all the albums released this week, Richard D. James' Aphex Twin comeback album, Syro, has really been a long time coming—13 years to be exact. An electronic producer and composer, he's retreated to the Scottish countryside for the past decade while the likes of Kanye West and Grimes have followed his experimental path. Even so, Syro arrives after a 13-year absence and still somehow fills a void in the so-called "EDM" space.
