Gary Clark Jr. is releasing a new live album next month, he announced Friday.
His second live record, titled Live North America 2016, will arrive on March 17. It features recordings from his tour last year in support of his 2015 album The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. Among the performances are "The Healing," "Grinder," "Our Love," "Cold-Blooded" and "Shake," featuring Leon Bridges.
Additionally, it also includes two previously unreleased covers, Jimmy Reed's "Honest I Do" and Elmore James' "My Baby's Gone" as well as "You Saved Me" and "When My Train Pulls In," the latter two of which are fan favorites from Clark's 2012 LP Blak and Blu.
As a press release notes, "Back when music was only available on a vinyl album, the pure excitement captured on a live album was considered the ultimate document coveted by hardcore music fans. Clark continues this tradition by bringing the live album to a younger generation of music fans."
News of the live album is timed with Clark's upcoming appearances at Eric Clapton's 50th anniversary shows March 19-20 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and March 25 at The Forum in Los Angeles.
Live North America 2016 is available now for pre-order.
