While Kanye West has not revealed much about his next album, which is expected to arrive later this year, there are a few details starting to surface.

In addition to West's claim that some of the material was recorded in Florence, Italy, Billboard cites a source familiar with the forthcoming project as describing the 12-track set as "mostly a mixture of soul samples and tamed Yeezus-esque darkness ... nothing abrasive."

To date, the likes of Rick Rubin, James Fauntleroy, Mike Will Made It, James Blake, French Montana, Evian Christ, DJ Mustard and others have been linked to the LP in some form.

West previously told Rolling Stone he thought the record would be a smaller, 8-track set. But at 12 tracks, this new project is clearly shaping up to be a full-fledged followup to last year's widely acclaimed Yeezus.
