Mac Miller has responded to those who questioned his reasons for signing with a major label (Warner Bros.).

"I think it just makes sense," he said in a new Fader interview. "For where I'm at right now and where I can possibly go. And I'd like to see what it's like ... to have those resources and to have that reach. I don't want to solely exist on the Internet" He also added: "This is the first time I've had a real budget."

The rapper's debut studio album, 2011's Blue Slide Park, debuted at No. 1 in the U.S. with 144,000 copies sold in its first week. It marked the first independently-distributed album to top the American charts since 1995.

Miller's deal with WBR is reportedly worth about $10 million.
