2024 is finally wrapping up. It's been a long year, most would agree.

And despite topsy turvy-ness of the last 12 months, it's been one extremely big year for music, with albums from heavy-hitters like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish.

Once again, while many publications are rushing to declare their critics selections for the "best" songs and albums and whatever, I'm choosing to make a list of my favorites from the perspective of a fan and music lover.

These were some of the songs I had on repeat this past year. I tried to keep it to 24 songs, but I gave that up. It's 36 songs. 2024 was a year of throwing out the playbook (and the rules), so it's perhaps fitting.
