East Coast four-piece rock band, Earthquake Lights, recently unveiled their single “Pictures” featuring Lindsey Lomis. The chilled-out, melancholy tune is both beautiful and thought-provoking, as the band explores the harmful impact of social media and how it's increasingly dominating our lives. 

Through breathtaking string arrangements, sultry brass sections and triumphant percussion, “Pictures” fills your entire body with a warmth and deep emotion. Earthquake Lights perfectly capture the feeling of nostalgia within the song, reflecting the emotions you feel when looking back through old photos. 

Lead singer Myles Rodenhouse explains, “Maybe you only feel connected to that person because of how immediate the internet and pictures have seemed to make them. But seriously what even are these connections you have with other people on the internet? Just because you see a picture of them it doesn't mean they're actually important to your life.”

The complimenting tones of the vocals evoke an all-encompassing aura, as Lomis soulfully chants, “When you paint a picture, does it make you think of me? Can you find me in your collage? Am I somewhere in the background?” Rodenhouse explains, “The lyrics were inspired essentially by an era that's defined by pictures and feelings of missing out, or wondering about someone that may be in some memory, possibly just out of reach but still barely relevant. Wondering if they actually care to remember you, or if it's even worth remembering one another and losing any sleep over.”

Earthquake Lights remind us to start living in the moment, to put our phones down and to cherish the people in our lives that truly matter.
