Sufjan Stevens confirmed Monday he is releasing a new album this fall, and to celebrate, he shared the lead single called "So You Are Tired."

It's a glimmering offering serving as the first preview of Stevens' new record, Javelin, which is out Oct. 6 via Asthmatic Kitty. The album will be the followup to the singer's 2020 project The Ascension, but it's billed as his first in true "singer-songwriter mode" since his stirring 2015 album Carrie & Lowell.

“So you are tired of us / So rest your head,” sings Stevens on the track, which is one of 10 on the upcoming album. The new record will feature a number of contributions from the likes of Adrienne Maree Brown, Hannah Cohen, Pauline Delassus, Megan Lui and Nedelle Torrisi as well as The National's Bryce Dessner, who plays acoustic and electric guitar on the song "Shit Talk."
