So Cal three-piece Private Island are the band to listen to when you’re feeling down. No matter what life throws at them, they seem to turn the situation around, creating feel-good anthems that make you sit back and realize, life is too short to worry about things that are out of your control. From a sewage leak in their bedroom in “Trippin’,” to losing your job in their latest release “Your Call,” it appears that nothing can phase these guys, with their infectious alt/rock anthems encouraging you to let your hair down and have a good time. 

Stripping back the filters and facades, Private Island gives it to you straight. “Your Call” in particular is lyrically blunt, as singer Christian Lum shares, “'Your Call' is about recently losing my job and waiting for my unemployment to kick in. Wrote it about feeling helpless in changing my situation and ultimately losing patience. The demo was cut on a writing trip to Santa Barbara about 4 years ago and then more recently produced to its final stages by the rest of the band.”

Slow and steady, “Your Call” plods along with the ultimate toe-tapping rhythm. As your head bobs up and down and your body sways to the groovy guitars, you instantly lose yourself, with Lum’s laid-back, soothing voice distinguishing any stress.
