KALEO's JJ Julius Son, by Dan Winters

In just a few weeks, KALEO will release their new album Surface Sounds. And on Thursday, they shared another new song from the record.

Their new track "Skinny" opens with frontman JJ Julius Son referencing a "girl," but as the song progresses, it becomes apparent he's not addressing a lover but perhaps another singer, as the song's lyrics dive into the dark side of the music industry, much of which falls on female artists.

The new song comes ahead of the full album, which is out April 23. And despite having to delay their album plans because of the pandemic, KALEO is clearly planning to make up for lost time. They have also announced a lengthy tour, which will start early next year, likely allowing for Covid-19 vaccinations to become more prevalent over the coming months.

Hear "Skinny" below.
