Glass Animals' new album is finally here—finally!

The U.K. outfit on Friday released their third album Dreamland, which arrived after having initially been scheduled to be released earlier this year. The Dave Bayley-led four-piece chose to delay the record out of respect for and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Despite the blissful title, this new record was apparently the band's most difficult to release, drawing from intense personal experiences and holding little back, following drummer Joe Seaward's horrific bike accident in 2018, which put his life in danger and left the future of the band in question.

Fast forward to 2020, as the band released their lead single “Your Love (Déjà vu)” and then launched a tour to kick off the new album cycle, only to be halted once again by the global health crisis and subsequent shutdowns, forcing Glass Animals to get creative in their album rollout.

That innovation was on full display in the video for title track "Dreamland," which saw frontman Bayley creating a spectacular video during self-isolation, complete with an insightful behind-the-scenes look. That clip was followed by the "Heat Waves" video, which was described as a love letter to live music, following Bayley through empty streets, with fans watching from quarantine as he entered an empty London music venue and took the stage with his bandmates, who joined him remotely.

Glass Animals have always had a unique skill for creating fun, massive, festival-ready music, but in the wake of their own personal challenges and the mess that is 2020, there is something so reassuring and comforting about this record, understanding its origins and recognizing the album's journey to today's release.
