Robert Ellis has released his new album Texas Piano Man.
To be honest, it's a bit wild how it's been two years since Leon Russell passed and Elton John is literally in the middle of a whirlwind farewell tour, because both of those legends' influence and fingerprints are all over this record, 11 songs of pure majesty.
From the moment back in November when Ellis announced the album with lead single "Fucking Crazy," it was clear the singer was embracing a big new chapter, with grand piano sounds, giant vocals and a more colorful persona with lyrics to match.
The new album follows his 2016 self-titled LP, which included the standout single "California," one of Variance's 100 Best Songs of 2016.
As we previously mentioned, Ellis will be touring in support of the record, starting with a weeklong stint in the Texas capitol of Austin during SXSW.
Hear Texas Piano Man below—maybe on repeat.
