After sharing their song "I Don't Know" back in October, BadBadNotGood on Thursday released a stirring set of visuals for the collaboration with Future Islands frontman Samuel T. Herring.

The newly released clip, which is billed as a short film, was directed by Will Mayer of Stink Films and created in partnership with WeTransfwr and Among Other Things. It's reflective of both the song's lyrics and Mayer's own loss of his father.

"This film was more or less a ballet to the five stages of grief," Mayer says of the video. "Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Our protagonist fights the battle that we have all fought, only to come out the other side. He ends neither free nor victorious—but alive. Because overcoming grief is never about victory—it's about perseverance."

As we previously mentioned, this isn't the first time the Toronto electronic-jazz outfit and Herring have linked up, as they also worked together for “Time Moves Slow,” off their album IV, which was released in 2016. According to the band, "I Don't Know" was recorded during the sessions for that album.
