Years & Years is back.

The U.K. outfit returned Wednesday with their addictive new song "Sanctify," the first preview of their upcoming sophomore album. The track arrived with an accompanying video, which is inspired by memories of frontman Olly Alexander at 13 years old listening to Britney Spears' "Slave 4 U" in his bedroom.

Set in a future metropolis called Palo Santo, the video sees Alexander taken to some kind of audition, where he is first seemingly restrained by a cuff around his neck. When it is released, he begins dancing and expressing himself more freely. The clip is said to be the first part of an ongoing narrative.

"I want to take people on a wild and wonderful adventure through my dreams to a world that’s very different from our own," Alexander says of the new track and video. "I’ve been thinking about this place for a long time, a place to tell stories from; about identity, sexuality, celebrity and performance."

He adds: "What I love so much about being in Years and Years is this fantasy that I’m allowed to live in. Anything can happen, everyone’s welcome and everyone’s safe. That’s the deal. So why not keep it going in that direction?"
