It was a good night for Chicago on Friday as some of the fastest rising hip-hop acts took the stage forAdam Torres Concerts' The Freshmen concert.

Fresh off a record No. 1 with "Bodak Yellow," Cardi B was all smiles as she performed at the UIC Pavillion. Just last week, the hit track toppled Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do," making Cardi just the second female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 without any guest features.

Headliner Young Thug is also coming off a big year, following a number of collaborations, his recent Beautiful Thugger Girls mixtape and his Jeffery mixtape, which was among Variance's 50 Best Albums of 2016.

Also celebrating a big album was A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, whose performance fell on the same day his debut album The Bigger Artist had just arrived. And as he continues his own swift rise, the excitement was palpable and intensified as A Boogie joined frequent collaborator PnB Rock to perform some of their tracks.

Also capping a busy year was Young M.A, who recently wrapped a tour opening for 21 Savage, and giving Chicago a show proving she has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
